Sverige Spark
What is Sverige Spark?
www.theFootyRecord.net Based upon the AFL Auskick Program, Sverige Spark introduces Swedish School Children to the Sport of Australian Rules Football or Aussie Rules. Although the primary goal of Sverige Spark is to encourage children to play Aussie Rules, it also aims at encouraging family participation and a healthy sporting lifestyle.

The primary points of Sverige Spark are:
  • Be FUN, SAFE and Family Orientated
  • Be open to all Females, Males and Parents
  • Promote a Healthy lifestyle of Exercise and Outdoor Activities
  • Introduce Swedes to Aussie Rules
  • Maximise participation and Enjoyment

There are two major facets of Sverige Spark:
  • Sverige Spark Schools
  • Sverige Spark Clinics

Sverige Spark Schools
Co-ordinating with local Swedish primary schools. This program is aimed at children from the ages of 10 and up. Over a period of 2-4 weeks a Sverige Spark Instructor will take the childrens' PE classes. During this period the children are introduced to the sport of Aussie Rules through a number of progressive skill and game sessions. Each one hour class is closed with a modified version of Aussie Rules. The focus of these classes is to encourage the children to participate in new sports and provide a foundation for their Aussie Rules skills to be built upon. This program has been widely applauded throughout a number of Stockholm Schools.

Sverige Spark Clinics
Building upon the School programs' foundations, Clinics are established on the weekend in regions close to the participating schools. The focus of the clinics is to provide an avenue for children and their parents to become involved in Aussie Rules. Using a structured learning approach, the clinics will introduce new aspects of Aussie Rules. As this program develops these clinics will form the basis for the SAFF Junior Australian Rules League.
