The Blues in Norrtä...

SAFF Premiership Season Round 2. It was an impressive start to the season by new team Norrtalje Dockers hosting the Södermalm Blues in Norrtälje on Saturday morning. In their first game in the SAFF competition, the Dockers jumped out of the blocks and surprised Södermalm by winning the first quarter kicking 5 goals straight. Eventually the Blues got there game together to win comfortably but the Dockers got a lot of confidence out of a strong start to their first season. The new team was not only impressive on the field but also impressed with their field, facilities and hospitality that the Dockers supplied at the Norrtälje Sports Center. Final score Södermalm 133 - Norrtälje 44. In the other Round 2 game on Friday night, the Arsta Swans and the Bromma Vikings had a close encounter that saw a spirited Swans team lead up until three quarter time before the Vikings ran out the game better in the last quarter. Final Score Bromma 72 - Årsta 58.

Anzac Day 2012

It was a great opening round of the SAFF 2012 Premiership season with all of the Stockholm based teams battling it out for Anzac Day. Last years runners up Södermalm made their mark on season 2012 with a massive win over the Årsta Swans in the first game at Årsta fältet. It was then the Bromma Vikings sending out early warning that they will be a force this year as they came from behind to topple the reining premiers Solna. Photos of the two matches can be found via the following Facebook link courtesy of the SAFF official photographer Frank Heuts. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3851070323811.2172938.1489833064 type=1 (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.3851070323811.2172938.1489833064 type=1) A big thank you also goes to Rion Farmer and Ben Kirk for hosting the Anzac Ceremony in remembrance of those Australian and New Zealand verterans who gave their lives in the First Wolrd War. This ceremony was held in between the matches and all four teams lined up for a remembrance speach, the last post and a minute of silience. The Ode They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morningWe will remember them.
